I believe that art is people trying to see themselves in perspective. It is trying to figure out who we are, what other people think we are, and what we’re doing here. I believe people will never truly understand who they are. All we can do is learn bits and pieces from our experiences, and then put the puzzle together. But we will never see the completed puzzle.
Here is one of my puzzle pieces: I like problem solving. There are no new ideas, just new problems that require a new solution or different a way of applying an idea that already exists. I find that studying the work of any one person may cause my work to look the same or similar. I prefer to just simply absorb design organically for what it is. I like to simply make a note of what I like when I see it, and why I like it. The same goes for design that I don’t like.
I am passionate about design. When I was younger, I wanted to change the world through design. Now I know the more realistic dream to be: that through my work, I leave this world a little bit better for my having been here. What more can I hope to achieve?
